What Student Success is

Student Success is the National Honor Society’s peer tutoring program at Clayton-Bradley Academy. NHS members volunteer their time to help other students work through the subjects they find hardest — not to do the work for them, but to make it make sense.

There is no cost, no minimum grade requirement, and no need to be failing a class to ask for help. Students use the program for everything from catching up after an absence to getting ahead before a hard exam.

How matching works this year

The process changed this year. Instead of contacting a tutor directly, every request now goes through one central Student Success inbox, and the team matches students to tutors behind the scenes.

This means a request is handled even if the tutor you had in mind is full, has left the program, or does not cover your subject. You are welcome to name a preferred tutor when you submit a request, and we will try to honor it — but the match is made by the team, and a preference is not a guarantee.

How Student Success works

Two paths through the program: one if you are looking for help, one if you are an NHS member who wants to tutor.

If you want a tutor

For students requesting help

  1. Submit a request

    Fill out the request form with your subject, your general availability, and what you need help with. Naming a preferred tutor is optional.

  2. Your request reaches the Student Success team

    Every request goes to one central NHS inbox. No tutor is contacted directly, and nothing is scheduled automatically.

  3. We match you with a tutor

    [CONFIRM WITH ADVISOR] — who reviews incoming requests, how they decide on a match, and how long a student should expect to wait before hearing back.

  4. You hear back with your match

    [CONFIRM WITH ADVISOR] — how the match is communicated (school email, in person, through the advisor) and what a student should do if they do not hear anything.

  5. Meet for your session

    [CONFIRM WITH ADVISOR] — where and when sessions happen (in person or virtual, during a specific period, study hall, or after school), plus any eligibility rules such as grade level, subjects covered, or limits on the number of sessions.

If you want to tutor

For NHS members

  1. Confirm you are eligible

    [CONFIRM WITH ADVISOR] — NHS membership status, GPA or grade requirements, and any training or orientation required before a member can start tutoring.

  2. Sign up as a tutor

    [CONFIRM WITH ADVISOR] — the actual sign-up process, who to contact, any form to complete, and the deadline if there is one.

  3. List the subjects you can cover

    [CONFIRM WITH ADVISOR] — how a member’s subject list is decided and approved, and whether there is a limit on subjects or course levels.

  4. Get matched with a student

    [CONFIRM WITH ADVISOR] — how tutors are notified of a match, what they are expected to do first, and who to tell if they cannot take it.

  5. Log your hours

    [CONFIRM WITH ADVISOR] — how service hours are logged and verified, the expected time commitment, and how hours count toward NHS service requirements.
